We are Retaligent Solutions, Inc. a recently formed software spin-off of Symbol Technologies, Inc., a recognized worldwide leader in providing mobile device and wireless infrastructure to the retail industry. The Retail Solution Suite is designed to improve customers’ in-store shopping experiences and increase their purchases, while improving associate productivity, which we believe will result in higher sales and improved margins for our customers. Retail Solution Suite applications are designed to function on hand-held mobile devices, point-of-sale terminals (“POS”), personal computers (“PC”) and kiosk-based devices.

The Retail Solution Suite

The diagram below depicts the primary functionality of the Retail Solution Suite, with modules ranging from product location and recommendation to customer task and communication to operational productivity enhancing tools. This functionality is substantially similar regardless of the device platform being used, whether handheld, desktop PC, POS or kiosk:

The Retail Solution Suite supports various business improvements, such as:

  • features that empower sales associates with one-to-one selling tools that capture, and facilitate access to, individual customer data, preferences and purchase history, and provide sales associates with the ability to deliver enhanced customer services and present personalized up-sell and cross-sell opportunities;

  • the ability to deliver, on a one-to-one basis, special offers and customized messages by means of hand-held devices and in-store kiosks;

  • the ability to scan an item on a mobile device or kiosk the selling floor and have it located in a stock room or in another location through-out the enterprise… and coordinate other recommended items or alternative items.

  • mobile Voice Over IP and written communication tools that support higher levels of associate productivity and improved customer service;

  • the potential to increase the average transaction size per customer visit, as well as the frequency of customer visits to the retail outlet, with the objective of growth in revenues and margins; and

    • a business process management and reporting capability designed to allow the retailer to transform the best practices of customer service into repeatable and measurable sales associate behavior.

    • An application architecture that provides a personalized user experience based on the sales associate’s permissions, deployed device, selling area and management’s desire to influence specific sales associate behavior


We believe that retailers are looking for ways to improve their customers’ in-store shopping experiences by differentiating themselves from their competition, while increasing revenues, productivity and margins. In this regard, we are offering retailers a “next generation” wireless mobile retailing tool and supporting technology designed to improve their existing businesses through leveraging their customer knowledge and providing a fully integrated customer-oriented system.


We also believe that various economic and consumer behavior challenges will cause many retailers to revise their business model from a mass marketing approach to a model in which personalized marketing and selling (commonly called “Clienteling”) becomes a prominent feature. Retaligent’s Retail Solution Suite is designed to provide retailers with real-time access to enterprise customer and merchandise data, as well as selling tools that promote best-practices of customer service and sales associates’ productivity. Hand-held devices running our service-enhancing software applications should make it possible for sales associates to achieve higher levels of customer satisfaction at the point of decision through up-selling, cross-selling and suggestion-selling.


The recent convergence of wireless infrastructure, cheaper hardware and scalable enterprise software applications is redefining the retail business landscape and providing retailers with the ability to implement, and benefit from, software applications like the Retail Solution Suite. The Retail Solution Suite is designed to enable retailers to add features and functionality as business requirements mandate. In addition, the Retail Solution Suite has an Enterprise Application Integration (“EAI”) framework that allows these solutions to co-exist seamlessly with other legacy solutions. Also, the Retail Solution Suite incorporates a highly flexible security and permissions matrix based on user roles, permissions location and device, resulting in a personalized sales associate or customer experience, depending on the device that is being used and how it is being used.
